We found the provider had taken steps to ensure the premises were adequately maintained. We also reviewed some of the quality assurance systems at the home. Staff received regular support from the management team to ensure training needs were identified. We found staff received appropriate training to enable them to meet peoples' needs. Staff told us further training was available if they requested this. We saw recruitment checks were carried out to ensure suitable people were employed to work at the home, however this did not record any gaps in employment.
Processes were in place to ensure people's freedom was not inappropriately restricted. Staff told us they would report any concerns to the registered manager. People were supported in a prompt manner and told us they had no concerns with the availability of staff. However we noted some equipment required cleaning and infection control measures required improvement to ensure the risk of cross infection was minimised. Cross and Passion Convent
The home is in the centre of Freckleton village, close to shops, a library and public transport. Bedroom accommodation is situated over two floors and there is a stair lift. There are three lounges plus a conservatory used for dining. Croft House is a 22 bed residential care home providing 24 hour personal care to the elderly at an affordable price for all.
We used all information gained to help plan our inspection. At this inspection in October 2018, we found improvements had been made. We found people were lawfully deprived of their liberty and staff were available to meet people’s needs. We saw the building was secure and refurbishment had taken place, with new flooring installed. We found fire doors were shut and chemicals were stored securely. Audits were carried out to ensure improvements required were identified.

People were referred to other health professionals for further advice and support when assessed needs indicated this was appropriate and documentation we viewed reflected this. We saw people were offered a variety of foods at Croft House Rest Home and people were supported to eat and drink sufficient to meet their needs. There were systems in place to protect people at risk of harm and abuse.
There are small gardens to the front and sides of the home, with patios and seating areas, accessible via ramps. This inspection was carried out to follow up concerns we previously identified regarding the premises. The Old Vicarage Care Home
The accommodation consists of 26 single and 5 double bedrooms. Communal areas include a large lounge with a dining areas, a conservatory and a sensory... At this inspection carried out in November and December 2017 we found some improvements had been made. We found a range of individual risk assessments were in place to support people’s safety. Documentation reflected the action staff were expected to take and staff were knowledgeable of the assessments in place. However, we found the registered provider had not ensured the premises were safe for use and used in a safe way.
On the day of inspection there were 21 people living at the home. People living at the home told us staff were friendly and kind. The relatives we spoke with confirmed they were kept informed of important changes and were generally pleased with the quality of care provided.
The Croft House Rest Home
SOFI is a way of observing care to help us understand the experience of people who could not talk with us. This was as people could communicate their views on the service to us. – there are some services which we can’t rate, while some might be under appeal from the provider.

We have not found evidence that we need to reassess the rating at this stage. We will continue to monitor information about this service. Our residents are happy to entertain guests in the comfortable and sociable lounge or their own rooms, whichever suits them. We believe strongly in the independence and individuality of our residents and encourage the continuation of relationships, hobbies, interests and routines that are a part of their lives. Croft House Rest Home was registered with the Care Quality Commission in April 2012. We last inspected the home in October 2013 and found no breaches in the regulations we looked at.
Relatives we spoke with told us they could speak with the registered manager if they wished to do so and they found the registered manager approachable. The registered manager demonstrated their understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005. People told us they were enabled to make decisions and staff told us they would help people with decision making if this was required. People are supported to have maximum choice and control in their lives and staff support them in the least restrictive way possible; the policies and systems in the service support this practice. People and relatives, we spoke with told us they were happy with the staffing arrangements at the service. People told us they received care and support at the times they agreed and they were not rushed or hurried in any way.
This was a breach of Regulation 12 (Safe care and treatment.) You can see what action we told the provider to take at the back of the full version of the report. The Manse Nursing Home can accommodate up to 40 people who require nursing or personal care. The home is close to the centre of Kirkham with easy access to shops and local amenities.
People told us and records we viewed; indicated people received their medicines as prescribed. We found best practice guidance was not always followed. We noted two bottles of prescribed medicines had not been dated on opening. For services we haven't rated we use ticks and crosses to show whether we've asked them to take further action or taken enforcement action against them.
